About Toby's Legacy Pups - Who We Are
Welcome to Toby’s Legacy Pups! We’re a family of three—Abe, Laura, and our son Jamin—living on 1.5 acres in northeastern Ohio, surrounded by our animals and the peaceful countryside. Our puppy-raising journey began in 2014 after the loss of our daughter, when a sweet poodle named Toby brought joy back into our lives.

Toby's Legacy Pups Has Brought You These Three Amazing Breeds!
Cavapoo Puppies
Our F1b Cavapoo puppies are hypoallergenic, making them great for allergy sufferers. These 10-20 lb pups are playful, smart, and sociable with a teddy bear-like appearance. They are excellent family pets, great with kids, and perfect for first-time dog owners. Cavapoos are affectionate, adaptable, and thrive in both apartments and homes.
Teddy Bear (Shichon) Puppies
Teddy Bear puppies, a mix of Shih-Tzu and Bichon Frise, are 15-20 lb companion dogs known for their hypoallergenic coats and gentle, loving nature. They look like living teddy bears and excel as therapy dogs. Loyal and affectionate, they do well with families, seniors, or homes with other pets.
Goldendoodle Puppies
Our F1 Goldendoodles are a cross between Golden Retrievers and Standard Poodles. These intelligent, playful dogs are perfect for active families. They have low-shedding coats, require regular grooming, and excel in training. Goldendoodles thrive in homes where they can participate in outdoor activities and daily family life.
Toby's Legacy Pups ~ Where It All Began!
Where it all began was in 2014, during a time of deep heartache when we lost our daughter to a full-term stillbirth. Seeking comfort, we welcomed a curly white standard poodle named Toby into our lives, and he quickly brought us so much joy during a difficult time.
Toby, along with Tasha, our Golden Retriever, became the foundation of our journey into raising puppies. From that moment, we discovered a passion for sharing the happiness that these dogs bring, and thus, Toby’s Legacy was born.
Here at Toby’s Legacy Pups we take training seriously, we are intentional in the way we raise and train our puppies starting from the first day they are born. Socializing puppies has traditionally been considered the responsibility of the new owner. Today research shows that encouraging a stable temperament can start very early in a puppy’s life. We can do a lot to make sure our puppies have a great start on being more adaptable to all the situations they will encounter in life. We look at the first three weeks of the puppies’ lives.

What Is The Difference Between F1 and F1b?
What is an F1 Goldendoodle?
An F1 Goldendoodle is the most basic cross between a purebred Golden Retriever and a purebred Poodle. This first-generation Goldendoodle is what most people think of as a "classic" Goldendoodle, with the DNA split roughly 50/50 between the two breeds. Due to the large amount of genetic diversity, a first-generation Goldendoodle's appearance can vary widely. The coat could be straight like the Golden Retriever, curly like the Poodle, or somewhere in between.
F1 Goldendoodles will likely be lower shedding than a Golden Retriever, but they will still probably have moderate shedding and trigger allergies. For this reason, if you suffer from allergies, you might want to pass on an F1 Goldendoodle puppy.
The positive that comes from so much genetic diversity is lower odds of your dog having inherited genetic issues that plague purebred breeds. While mixed breeds, in general, are at lower risk than purebred dogs, the F1 generation Goldendoodle is the safest bet for a healthy pet.
F1 Goldendoodle Price:
First-generation Goldendoodles tend to be the least expensive. However, prices vary widely and are far more dependent on other factors including location, breeder reputation, size, and color. In general, Goldendoodles can range from $1,000 up to $5,000. We love the F1 generation doodles and feel like you get an even split on the wonderful personality traits each breed has. The sweet, gentle nature of the Golden Retriever and the intelligent, easily trained personality of the Poodle make for a wonderful, amazing family pet.
What is an F1B Goldendoodle?
A first-generation backcross Goldendoodle or any poodle cross is the result of breeding an F1 Goldendoodle or poodle mix with a Poodle. As mentioned earlier, it could also mean breeding an F1 with a Golden Retriever. However, this is a rare occurrence, and it's safe to assume that an F1B Goldendoodle means that it's backcrossed to the Poodle unless stated otherwise.
While you lose a bit of the genetic diversity by crossing back to the Poodle, the main advantage is that you get a more predictable coat, which is usually minimal shedding (if any) and more hypoallergenic than an F1. This generation is usually a safe bet for allergy sufferers. This generation of doodle can be, but isn’t always, a little more high-strung and may need more daily brushing. They will typically have more of a Poodle coat as they will be 75% Poodle and 25% Golden Retriever.
